  Can we Passover the Easter Sunday attack of Sri Lanka? On the 21 st of April, we mark the 2 nd year of the gruesome attack by Zaharan and his Islamic extremist group on 3 Churches and 3 hotels claiming the lives of 269 people, locals and foreigners and injuring about 500 people. Ever since then two successive governments have held investigative committees and commissions to determine and bring to light the masterminds and the reasons behind this attack. Very unfortunately up to the time of writing this article a satisfactory revelation has not been made. Though we know who physically carried out the attack and the authorities who neglected their responsibilities in preventing this attack, we have not been told who wanted it carried out and for what reasons - which seems to be top-secret.   Rev. Dr W.G. Wickremasinghe a beloved Principal and a Mentor In January I968, I experienced my first transition of Schools from Richmond College, Galle to a leading Government School in Negombo. Sadly many factors made me and my brother feel that it was not the right school having come out of Richmond, which had very high standards of Education and Discipline. My father in realizing our dissatisfaction decided to look for another school. One afternoon when we returned home from school, our father related to us a meeting he has had in the morning with one of his ministerial Friends, Rev. Dr. W.G. Wickremasinghe.  I still remember the words of my father to my mother -"Willie said bring the boys to Carey". That is the first time I heard of Carey College and  Willie Wickremasinghe, two names I will treasure till I breathe my last. 20th of March marked the 13th anniversary of my beloved Principal's call to his Eternal Home and I am inspired to write this eulogy with thanks...

  Church Leadership and Hidden Agendas At the entrance to an international summit, these words were displayed "leave your ego at the door”   What is meant by “leave your ego”? A simple understanding of it is to "leave your pride and arrogance at the door.” But there is a lot more to understand why it is so vital to “leave the ego at the door”. We all have to agree to the fact that it is a difficult thing to do. What is the Ego? While there are diverse interpretations on this, Marianne Williamson explains it in her book A Return To Love - “the ego is the false persona we have built up over time to protect ourselves, just like an actor may have taken on a character that they were only meant to play to further their career.”   If we try to let go of this character it will certainly get upset, because if we "leave our ego" we are effectively killing this false character – so it's going to fight for survival. ...
